Love is the more Excellent Way: St Paul's Letter to the Corinthians
The Corinthians were Paul's most troublesome community. They boasted of their 'special' relationship with God, their spiritual gifts and their spiritual 'maturity'. Paul responded by showing them that the essence of Christianity is Love - divine love - poured into the hearts of all baptised believers. This love enables us to live in communion with the Blessed Trinity, and in communion with the Mystical Body of Christ on earth. This divine love transforms us into the image of Jesus Christ and brings us to true spiritual maturity. The fascinating thing about these letters is to see how Paul embodied this teaching, and could say 'Take me for your model, as I take Christ'. 1 Cor. 11:1
