Peter The Rock
One of the most exciting miracles in the New Testament is the transformation of Simon, the fisherman, into Peter the Rock. By itself it demonstrates Jesus’ power to transform souls and turn them into images of himself. Peter’s transformation also shows that Jesus did not come just to save us. He also came to divinize us. Saving is the first step. St Paul says that Jesus wanted to make “a whole new man in Christ” (Eph 2;15) out of each one of us. He certainly did this with Peter!
